Boyce Hensley

Boyce Briscoe Hensley, 67, of Spartanburg, SC died Saturday, September 10, 2016 at home. Born July 23, 1949 in Rutherfordton, NC, he was the son of the late Pansy Briscoe Hensley. Boyce was a member of United Baptist Church, where he was a former Deacon, Sunday School teacher, choir member, RA leader and director of Young at Heart. He was the salutatorian of Alexander High School Class of 1966 and he received his Master of Arts Degree in Business with secondary and Junior College teacher certification from Appalachian State University. He was named Technical Educator of the Year 1981-1982 at Spartanburg Technical College. As former Director of Spartanburg County Baptist Network Senior Adults and a member of South Carolina Technical Education Association, he was retired from Spartanburg Technical College where he was the Department Head of Computer Technology. Survivors include his wife, Mary McElroy Hensley of 43 years; sons, Jeff Hensley (Sheila) of Simpsonville, SC; Chris Hensley of Mt. Pleasant, SC; Greg Hensley (Tammy) of Moore, SC; grandchildren, Samuel, Abby, Rowan, Leighton, Riley, Ryder; brother, Arnold Hensley of Union Mills, NC; sister in laws, Nancy Hensley of Rutherfordton, NC and Marie Hensley of Bostic, NC. He was also predeceased by brothers, Bruce Hensley and Gene Hensley; and a sister in law, Lois Hensley. Visitation will be 4:30 - 5:45 PM Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at United Baptist Church, 7319 Valley Falls Rd, Spartanburg, SC 29303. Funeral service will follow at 6:00 PM at United Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Robert Emory and the Rev. Robert Toney. Burial will be 2:00 PM, Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at Oak Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, 2591 Rock Road, Rutherfordton, NC 28139.
