Boyce Burgess

Boyce Lee Burgess, 88, of Spartanburg, SC passed away Sunday, March 26th, 2023 at Spartanburg Hospice House after a brief illness. He leaves behind a legacy of love and family who will miss him dearly. He was an incredible son, brother, husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His love and dedication to his family will be deeply missed.

Born in 1935, Boyce was the son of the late Dean Burgess and the late Lillie Burgess of Spartanburg SC. He was a very devoted and supportive son and worked tirelessly to provide for his parents and siblings. He is also predeceased by two brothers, Cecil Burgess, and James Burgess, both of Spartanburg, SC.

In 1950 he met the love of his life, Ms. Rebecca Anne Wilson and they were married two years later. Boyce and Anne spent the next 70 years together building the life they had always dreamed of for their son and his wife and their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Boyce was retired from Kusters in Spartanburg where he worked for 37 years. He was employed with Union Camp and Dixie Vim previously.

Boyce and Rebecca had one son who was the love of their life, Steven Earl Burgess. Steven met and married his wife Andrea, who Boyce loved like a daughter. Boyce and family lost their precious son in October of 2021 and we know that he is now rejoicing in the fact that they have been reunited together in Heaven.

Boyce was an avid golfer and passed down his love for the game to his son and grandson. He was a family man who loved and supported them dearly. He leaves behind, in addition to his wife Anne and his daughter in law Andrea, two grandchildren, Jennifer Pruitt (Jeremy) of Boiling Springs and Van Burgess (Ginger) of Boiling Springs. He also leaves behind 7 great grandchildren: Caleigh, Ollie, Carolina, Paislie, Lettie, Kullie and Nolie. His love and pride for his family will forever be missed.

Visitation will be 10:00-10:45AM Thursday, March 30, 2023, at Boiling Springs Chapel, 4161 Hwy. 9 North, Boiling Springs, SC, 29316.  Funeral Services will follow at 11:00AM, conducted by Pastor Daniel Thrower.  Burial will follow in Boiling Springs Memorial Gardens, 4081 Hwy 9 North, Boiling Springs, SC, 29316.
