Boyce Alexander Brown, Jr.

Boyce “Boe” Alexander Brown, Jr., of Spartanburg, died Wednesday, May 10, 2023, following a long illness.  Born November 22, 1956, in Charlotte, NC, he was the son of the late Boyce Alexander and Lola Andrews Brown.   

Boe is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Deborah League Brown.  Other family members include a sister, Jerrie Brown McAbee (Douglas), of Chester, SC, and many treasured nephews, nieces, and cousins.  He was predeceased by four sisters, Ann Brown, Dolores Brown Morton, Pamela Loreice Brown Turner, and September Brown Tillotson. 

Boe enjoyed a wonderful life in Spartanburg and had a large circle of close friends.  He worked in the automotive service and parts industry for a number of area dealerships.  His love of Gamecock sports, especially football, tailgating, and backyard pool party barbeques was legendary.  Boe was also a music aficionado, especially beach and Motown. 

Special thank you is extended to Chris and Angela Allen and to the nursing staff at the Spartanburg Hospital for Restorative Care, especially Marie, Olivia, and Debra, for the comfort they provided to Boe during his extended illness.  

A Celebration of Boe’s Life will be held at Saint Luke’s Methodist Church (105 McKay Ave, Spartanburg, SC 29302) on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at 1:00 p.m., with a reception following. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to   Spartanburg County Foundation: Park Hills Neighborhood Association North Fund, 424 E. Kennedy Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302.
