Bobby Pitts

Bobby Lee Pitts, 91, of Wellford, SC died Saturday, May 15, 2021 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born March 16, 1930 in Anderson, SC, he was the son of the late Louie Ostell and Quillie May Higginbotham Pitts and the widower of Betty Marzette Rinehart Pitts.

A U.S. Army veteran serving in the Korean War, Mr. Pitts created General Plastic Company in 1966 and then founded Marchel Industries and was currently involved with the business.

Mr. Pitts was a member of First Baptist Spartanburg. He enjoyed snow skiing, scuba diving and sailing. He loved his family with all of his heart.

Survivors include his sons, Randy Pitts (Kathy), Gene Pitts (Karen), Bobby Pitts (Nancy), Ricky Pitts (Erin O’Brien), his daughter, Deborah Williams (Edward III), and a special niece, Kathy, grandchildren, Lisa Buffington (Marty), Lori Heckman, Robin Crooke (Shannon), Candy Fluharty (Mike), Matt Pitts (Ginger), Holly Rogers (Camden), Melissa Goode (Eric), Adam Pitts (Jessica), Lauren Blair (Zach), Hilary Trammell (Andrew), Eric Pitts (Kelly), April Nicholson (Nic), Amber Stribling (Walter), Ashlee Coggins (Chad), Edward Williams IV (Lina), Emma Williams, Meghan Johnson (Lee), Chris Pitts (Kim), 36 great-grandchildren, two great great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 1:00 – 2:15 PM Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at Floyd’s North Church Street Chapel, 235 N. Church Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306. Funeral service will be 2:30 PM at the chapel, conducted by Chaplain David Banks. Burial will be in Fort Prince Memorial Gardens, 125 Fort Prince Road, Wellford, SC 29385.
