Bobby Dean Orr, 71, of Arkwright, died Saturday, January 3, 2015 at his home. Born May 13, 1943 in Gaffney, SC, he was the son of the late James Greene Orr and Ethel Elizabeth Benton Orr. Survivors include his loving wife of 51 years, Patricia Ann Griffin Orr; two daughters, Annette Holder (Keith) and Barbara McKelvey (Jerry) all of Boiling Springs; a brother, Lee Marcus Orr (Freda) of Wellford; three grandchildren, Devon Holder (Amber), Ashley Kirby (Dustin), C.J. McKelvey and one great-grandchild (Benjamin Kirby). He is also survived by several special nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Lillie Orr Huitt; and a brother, Nevitt Lonzo Orr. Bobby was a native of the Arkwright community and retired from Arkwright Mills after over 30 years of service. He spent time as a volunteer firefighter with the Arkwright Fire Department and also served as a concessions operator for Spartanburg High School football games in the 1980's. He was a kind hearted and generous man who loved his wife and family. He enjoyed going to flea markets, playing his video games, listening to blue grass music, and mostly enjoying the company of his wife, family, and friends from his front porch swing. He was a jokester who enjoyed making people feel welcome and making them laugh. Visitation will be 1:30 - 2:45 PM Tuesday, January 6, 2015, at Floyd's North Church Street Chapel, 235 North Church Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306. Funeral services will be follow at 3:00 PM, at the Chapel, conducted by Pastor Sammy Sutton of North Spartanburg Free Will Baptist Church. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Memorials may be made to The American Diabetes Association, 119 Eastwood Circle, Spartanburg, SC 29302. Flowers will be accepted. The family is at the home.
