Bobby Crump

Bobby Joe Crump, 85, of Spartanburg, SC, died Thursday, May 25, 2017, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born August 18, 1931, in Westminster, SC, he was the son of the late Styles C. and Ina Odell Sprouse Crump. He was happily married for 62 years to the late Vera Geraldine Hollifield Crump. A U. S. Navy veteran and Naval Golden Glove boxer, Mr. Crump was the owner/operator of Varsity Drive-In of Spartanburg for 34 years. He was a graduate of Spartanburg High School and Spartanburg Methodist College where he played baseball. Survivors include his daughters, Casey Crump Burnett (Brooks), Kelli Pye, and son, Scott Crump, all of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, B. J. Crump (Heather), Courtney Crump Cochran (Joey), Shalyn Crump Klein, Madalyn Burnett, and Braylon Burnett; four great-grandchildren; and nephew, S. C. Crump (Jane). Visitation will be 12:00-1:45 PM Monday, May 29, 2017, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM, at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Joe Mosley. Entombment, with military rites, will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Heritage Chapel Mausoleum, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307.
