Bobbie Byrd

Bobbie Jean Smith Byrd, 78, of 1705 Skylyn Drive, died Thursday, November 25, 2010 at her home. Born March 29, 1932 in Norwood, NC, she was the daughter of the late Wallace Arnold and Dora Smith and wife of the late Rev. Dr. Edwin Oscar Byrd, Jr. She was a graduate of Norwood High School and attended Appalachian State University. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Spartanburg, and a devoted mother and grandmother. Survivors include a daughter, Kathy Byrd Taylor (Jim) of Spartanburg; a son, Dr. Edwin Oscar Byrd III (Sherri C,) of Duncan, SC; and three grandchildren, Caroline Renee Byrd, Parker Ross Byrd, and Sarah Katherine Byrd. She was the youngest of five children and the last surviving member of her immediate family. Visitation will be 1:30-2:30 p.m. Sunday, November 28, 2010 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Graveside services will follow at 3:00 p.m. in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Charles H. Horne.
