Bob O. Horton Sr., 85, of Spartanburg, passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2011. Born in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late Alton and Bertha Horton. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 55 years, Mary Elizabeth Vaughn Horton. He is survived by his sons, Bob Horton Jr. of Taylors, Marshall Horton of Spartanburg; his daughter, Harriett Bryant of Cowpens; three grandchildren, Katherine Horton Cumming of Vancouver, BC, Taylor Horton of Washington DC, and Dillon Bryant of Cowpens; and his brother, Pierce Horton of Spartanburg. He was predeceased by his son, Russell Horton; four brothers, Jack, Alton, William, and Marshall Horton; and a sister, Sara Humphries. Mr. Horton was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a graduate of Spartanburg High School Class of 1942 and the University of South Carolina, a member of St. Christopher Episcopal Church, and a retired insurance agent from the McNeil-Patterson Agency. A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday, October 9, 2011, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. The family is at the home of his daughter, Harriett Bryant, 298 Waters Road, Cowpens, SC.
