Blanch "Nolen" Suddeth, age 92, passed away in Spartanburg, SC, after a long illness. He was born in Spartanburg County, on January 26, 1932, a son to the late Blanch and Sunie Suddeth.
After graduating from Gramling High School in Inman, he served in the United States Army, before being employed at the US Postal Service as a postal carrier. Nolen's career as a postal carrier spanned more than 25 years, during which the children along his route eagerly anticipated his arrival, greeting him with smiles and laughter that brightened his day. He held each child dear to his heart, creating a bond that went beyond delivering mail.
Beyond his professional life, Nolen was a faithful member of Eastside Baptist Church since 1999. Alongside his wife, Barbara, he dedicated his time singing in the choir, embodying the spirit of music, service and compassion, being the hands and feet of Jesus to others. Along with Sara Bryant and Barbara, Nolen formed the Faith Trio where they sang all over Spartanburg and surrounding counties, singing in nursing homes, churches, community events, sharing God’s love with many people.
He was preceded in death by his son, Marty Nolen Suddeth in September 2023, Nolen is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Barbara Ann Adkins Suddeth, and their daughter, Julie S. Hatton and her husband, Nick Gironda, grandson, Spencer Hatton, two great-grandchildren, MaryLee and Kendyn.
A visitation will be held at Eastside Baptist Church, 1850 Fernwood Glendale Rd, Spartanburg, SC 29307 on Tuesday, February 20th, from 2:00 pm to 2:45 pm followed by his Funeral Service in the chapel at 3:00 pm with Reverend Daniel Kurh and Reverend Mike Royal officiating. The burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Park, 1955 Cannons Campground Rd, Spartanburg, SC 29307 immediately following the funeral service.

Nolen touched the lives of many with his gentle spirit and unwavering love for his family and community. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for the light he brought into the world. May he rest in peace.
