Billy Thomas, Sr.

Billy Cohen Thomas, Sr., 84, of Spartanburg, died Friday, April 29, 2011 at his home. Born May 11, 1926, in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late Basil A. and Grace Stephens Thomas. Mr. Thomas was a veteran of the U. S. Navy and retired from W. N. Kirkland Inc. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn West Thomas; a son, Steve M. Thomas and wife Nancy of Spartanburg; two granddaughters, Lisa Lytle and husband Sean of Pauline, and Christy Thompson and husband James of Cowpens; two great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Noah Lytle of Pauline; and a sister, Verle Burwell of Spartanburg. He was predeceased by a son, Billy C. Thomas, Jr., five brothers and two sisters. Visitation will be 2:00-2:45 PM Sunday, May 1, 2011 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM in the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Richard King and the Rev. Tommy Sparks. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
