William Charles Brown, known affectionately as "Bill," passed away on April 8, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Bill was born on May 24, 1937, in Greenville, TN. He was a son to the late, Charles E. Brown, and Myrtle May Swatzel.
He had a fulfilling career working for many years at Progress Lighting in electrical maintenance until his well-deserved retirement.
Bill's life was characterized his generous spirit and kind heart. He quietly and selflessly gave to his family, friends, and even strangers. One of his passions was tending to his vegetable garden each year and sharing the bountiful produce with those around him. Bill found joy in providing for his family, especially his grandchildren, whom he cherished deeply. For many years, he took on the role of Santa Claus during the holidays to ensure that his grandchildren always experienced the magic of Christmas.
In addition to his dedication to family and work, Bill also served in the Army National Guard and achieved the honor of becoming a Mason of the third degree while residing in Knoxville, TN. He took pride in supporting St. Jude's Children's Hospital through his generous donations over the years.
Bill will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his devoted wife of 38 years, Eva Mae Farmer Brown; loving daughter Rhonda B. Turner (William) of Knoxville, TN; three grandchildren: Ashlie Gail Shippee (Tommy), Robert Thomas Brandon Turner, and Amber Michelle Turner; as well as nine great-grandchildren, Skyler Maness, Mikah Matthews, Bryson Grauel, Lauren Turner, Austen McDaniel, Jaedyn Satterfield, Addicus McDaniel, Maggie McDaniel and Scarlett McDaniel . His siblings Junnie Brown and Carolyn Cox, sisters-in-law, Dee Smith (Walter) and Mary Cooper; brothers-in-law, Robert Farmer and Kenneth Farmer (Shaina), along with a large extended family of nieces and nephews who held a special place in their hearts for their dear uncle.
In addition to his parents, Bill is preceded in death by his daughter, Pamela Gail Brown who died at the age of twelve years, his siblings Jack Brown, Albert Brown, Lois Beeker, Kate Poole, and Dorothy Reagan.
A Graveside Service to honor and remember Bill's life will be held at 12:00 pm, Friday, April 12, 2024, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Spartanburg, Pastor Eddie Smith will officiate the service.
Bill's legacy of love, generosity, and dedication will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have known him. May he rest in peace knowing that he touched countless lives with his kindness and warmth.
