Bill Thompson

William Tate Thompson, Jr., 83, of Pacolet, SC, died Wednesday, September 2, 2015, at Mary Black Memorial Hospital. Born April 23, 1932, in Pacolet Mills, SC, he was the son of the late Willie Tate "Hoss" Thompson, Sr. and Marie Pugh Thompson and husband, for 61 years, of the late Harriett Rae Holt Thompson. A U. S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, Mr. Thompson retired from Hoechst Celanese after 23 years of service. He was a member of Montgomery Memorial United Methodist Church. Survivors include his children, Beverly T. Deyton (Mark) of Gaffney, SC and Rick Thompson (Tammy) of Pacolet, SC; grandchildren, Diah Henderson (Chad), Kaci Deyton, Justin Deyton (Carrie), Kevin Thompson (Christine), and Tim Deyton (Brittney); great-grandchildren, Ava, Cadence, Sydni, Jace, Cade, Gunnar, and Gentry; and nieces, Angel Thompson and Jamie Powell. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by a brother, James F. "Skinny" Thompson; and grandson, Michael Deyton. Visitation will be 1:30-2:45 PM Friday, September 4, 2015, at Floyd's Pacolet Chapel, 141 Memorial Dr., Pacolet, SC 29372. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM, at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Tina Thomas. Burial will be in Pacolet Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Montgomery Memorial United Methodist Church, 160 Limestone Street, Pacolet, SC 29372. The family is at the home.
