Beverly Mccutchen

Beverly Jean Eubank McCutchen, 77, of Spartanburg, died peacefully at her home on Monday, January 11, 2021. She was born on November 13, 1943, in Gainesville, FL. She was the daughter of First Lieutenant Thomas Stewart Eubank, who was killed in action in France during World War II, and the late Frances Eaker Eubank Willard and the late Woodrow Wilson Willard. She was married to the late James McCutchen, Jr. Beverly graduated from Spartanburg High School and attended Converse College. She was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church of Spartanburg and served on the boards of both the Junior League of Spartanburg and the United Way. She was active for many years in social organizations including The Assembly, the Junior Reviewers Book Club, and several bridge clubs. She will be greatly missed by many friends who cherished her loyalty, wit, perseverance and strength. Over the last 20 years, Beverly and Jamie greatly enjoyed spending time at their vacation home in Sapphire, NC. She is survived by a son, James David McCutchen (Laura) of Spartanburg; a daughter, Stewart McCutchen Yeargin of Greenville; grandchildren, James David McCutchen, Jr. (Elizabeth), Samuel Watkins McCutchen (Katie), William Houston Yeargin, and Mary Isabella Cooper Yeargin; great-grandson James Hunter McCutchen; a sister, Catherine Willard Wahlen (Spike) of Atlanta, GA; a brother, Woodrow Wilson Willard, Jr. (Wickie) of Spartanburg; several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews; and her beloved Bichon Frise, Winston. Beverly was predeceased by a daughter, Beverly Catherine McCutchen. A graveside service will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 16, 2021, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by the Rev. Joanne R. Hull. The family respectfully requests that guests wear masks and observe social distancing. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Spartanburg Regional Hospice and Comfort Keepers for their dedication and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mobile Meals, PO Box 461, Spartanburg, SC 29304 or to a charity of one's choice.
