Beulah Mae Whitehurst

Beulah Mae (Bea) Carter Whitehurst, 91, of Spartanburg, died Thursday, September 14, 2023, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. A native of Bedford, Va, she was a daughter of the late Walter Harrison and Hallie Robertson Carter.  

She was a graduate of Longwood College, Farmville, VA, and taught school in Danville, Va, prior to moving to Spartanburg in 1966. She was a member of The Episcopal Church of the Advent where she taught Sunday School and a member of the Altar Guild for 50 years. 

Surviving is her husband of 69 years, Reginald W. (Reggie) Whitehurst, Jr.; sons, Reginald W. Whitehurst, III of Spartanburg and Mark C. Whitehurst of Columbus, OH; three grandchildren, Reginald W. Whitehurst, IV, Mark C. Whitehurst and Hailey N. Whitehurst; one great grandchild, Ryder W. Whitehurst; sister, Ella C. Bayne of Rockville, MD. She was predeceased by her brothers, Keith Carter, Orion Carter, Lawson Carter, Landon Carter and Walter H. Carter, Jr. 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at The Episcopal Church of the Advent conducted by the Rev. Paula R. Griffin. Visitation will follow in the Parish and Community Life Center. A private entombment will be held later.
