"Betty Boop" Betty Lou West Steadings, 63, of 7986 Asheville Hwy, Spartanburg, died Sunday, March 13, 2011 at her home. Born February 8, 1948, in Spartanburg, she was the daughter of the late James Roper and Mary Ellen Lane West and wife of the late Marion Edward "Dink" Steadings. Betty was a member of the Pentecostals of Spartanburg church. Survivors include two daughters, Tammy Renee Murphy of Bradley, Patricia Smitherman Beggs of Spartanburg; a son, Lamar Smitherman of Spartanburg; seventeen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; a sister, Patricia Ann Johnson of Inman; two brothers, Buddy Curtis West of Spartanburg and Jimmy Dean West of Myrtle Beach; and her Waffle House and Wal-Mart families, all of whom loved and cherished her. She was predeceased by a daughter, Cheryl Denise Smitherman. A memorial service will be held at 6:30 PM Thursday, March 17, 2011, at the Pentecostals of Spartanburg, 740 Falling Creek Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29301, conducted by the Rev. Jerry Colegrove.
