Betty Fay Sparks went to be with the Lord, and those she loved, on Tuesday, January 9, 2018, after a long illness. She was born in Gaffney, SC on March 6, 1933, grew up in Arcadia, SC, graduated from Fairforest High School and studied at Cecil's Business College in Spartanburg, SC. She worked at Mayfair Mills in Arcadia, SC and lastly, at Lockwood Greene Engineers of Spartanburg, SC, until her retirement in 1995. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Spartanburg, SC where she sang in the choir and served the Lord in various capacities. Betty was very personable, thoughtful, generous to a fault, and she never met a stranger she didn't like. She especially loved children whom she approached at random with her winsome smile, captivating charm and generous offerings. She also had a tender spot for stray animals and gave those that came to her door food, shelter and warmth. She discreetly helped out the needy, and touched the lives of everyone she met in a special way. She was loved by many, and she never sought recognition for her acts of kindness. Frequent words spoken by her, were expressions like: "I love you," "thank you," "you are welcome," "make yourself at home," "how can I help," and "praise the Lord." By her departure, the world has lost one kindred soul who thrived on doing God's work on earth, and Heaven has gained a truly beautiful angel and shining star. May she rest in eternal peace, richly rewarded by our omnipotent God with His ever enduring gifts of love. She was predeceased by her brother, Edward; her parents, Johnny Sparks and Bertie Sparks; her paternal and maternal grandparents; and other relatives. She is survived by some cousins, nephews, nieces and her caregiver Godson, Nasser Goudarzi. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Friday, January 12, 2018, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307, by Mr. Nasser Goudarzi.
