Betty Jane Glenn Rowland, 83, of Spartanburg, died Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at her home. Born June 10, 1928, in Spartanburg, she was the daughter of Mauldin Aubrey and Gladys Parker Glenn. Mrs. Rowland was a former co-owner of Rowland Radiator Service, a member of Morningside Baptist Church, the Ruth Sunday School Class, and the Jackie Heely Circle. Raised in Greenville, SC, she was a graduate of Greenville High School, attended Furman University, and was a public school teacher for Spartanburg District 7. She, along with her husband, were benefactors to many churches in the Upstate, with the Pew Bible Ministry that they established. Surviving are her beloved husband of 64 years, Vernon L. Rowland; daughter, LeAnne Rowland O'Donnell and husband Richard of Nashville, TN; sons, Glenn Rowland and wife Margie of Anderson, SC, and Greg Rowland and wife Fran of Durham, NC; special daughter, Sue DiMaggio of Durham, NC; grandchildren, Paige Thompson and husband Eric of Springfield, VA, Matthew Rowland and wife Laura of Seneca, SC, and Parker Rowland of Greenville, SC; great-grandchildren, Rebecca Thompson and Adam Thompson, both of Springfield, VA; sister, Jo Ann Huff and husband Walter of Greenville, SC; brother, Bob Glenn of Greenville, SC; and her beloved cats, Lucy, Little Bit, and AJ. She was predeceased by a daughter, Jane Rowland; and sister-in-law, Joanne Glenn. Visitation will be 1:00-2:30 PM Friday, April 13, 2012, at Morningside Baptist Church Welcome Center. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 PM, in the church, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Kirk H. Neely. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Agape Hospice of Spartanburg, 1060 Boiling Springs Road, Suite 1, Spartanburg, SC 29303; or Morningside Baptist Church, 897 South Pine Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302. The family extends their appreciation to the staff of Agape Hospice and caregiver, Frances McKinney, for their love and care.
