Betty Mcabee

Betty Roddy McAbee, 83, went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 1, 2013, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born April 24, 1930, in Spartanburg, she was the daughter of the late Ralph Roddy, Sr. and Daisy McCraw Roddy, and the widow of Fred "Bud" McAbee, Jr. She was retired from Raycord and was a member of First Baptist North Spartanburg and the Circle of Friends Sunday School Class. Mrs. McAbee enjoyed gardening and traveling, but most of all she enjoyed taking care of her family. Survivors include daughters, Debra McAbee Knight and Freda McAbee Hughes (Terry); son, Mike McAbee (Jackie), all of Boiling Springs; sisters, Ozelle Stewart of Boiling Springs, Evelene Batchelor (Darrell) of Blacksburg, SC and Brenda Blanton (Ray) of Chesnee, SC; brothers, John Roddy (Shirley) of Boiling Springs, Ralph Roddy, Jr. of Chesnee and Glen Roddy (Peggy) of Chesnee; sister-in-law, Jeanette Roddy of Boiling Springs; grandchildren, Jason, Brandon, Cameron, Cassie, Crystal, Justin, Jessica, Jeffrey, Beverly, Christy, Casey, Blaine, Travis, Jayme, Brandon and Jennifer; great-grandchildren, Kailey, Mallory, Lilly, Daisy, Grafton, Seth, Shelby, Love, and Casey Jay; and numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved. She was predeceased by a brother, Gene Roddy. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Sunday, November 3, 2013, at Floyd's Boiling Springs Chapel, 4081 Highway 9 North, Boiling Springs, SC 29316. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Monday, November 4, 2013, at First Baptist Church North Spartanburg, 8740 Asheville Highway, Spartanburg, SC 29316, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Michael S. Hamlet and the Rev. Tommy Comer. Burial will be in Boiling Springs Memorial Gardens, 4161 Highway 9 North, Boiling Springs, SC 29316.
