Betty Neister

Betty Jean Philbeck Neister, 84, of Spartanburg, died Wednesday, October 3, 2012, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born September 14, 1928, in Spartanburg County, she was the widow of Aubrey Franklin Neister and daughter of the late Parke Reid and Lillie Gibbs Philbeck. Beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Mrs. Neister loved animals and all of nature, sitting outside with her family, and known for her practical jokes, she was loved by all. A graduate of Cecil's Business College, she was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, and retired from Piedmont Federal Savings and Loan after 22 years of service. Surviving is her daughter, Trena Behnke and husband Richard, of the home; and grandchildren, Shelley Simpson, Cayla Burns, and Josh Burns. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Saturday, October 6, 2012, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday, October 7, 2012, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, by the Rev. Dr. A. Stephen Holler and the Rev. A. Mickey Fisher. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303; or Spartanburg Humane Society, 150 Dexter Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
