Betty Mcabee

Betty Shipman McAbee, 83, of Spartanburg, SC, died Tuesday, November 3, 2015, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born September 2, 1932, in Spartanburg, she was the daughter of the late John Homer and Mae Gregory Shipman. A member of Roebuck Baptist Church, Betty retired as a certified medical assistant having worked for Dr.'s Hendrix and Luttrell and Carolina Family Physicians. She was a 1951 graduate of Spartanburg High School and attended Nursing Training at Spartanburg General Hospital. Survivors include her sons, Danny Harold McAbee (Debra) of Arcadia, SC and Barry Dean McAbee (Cindy) of Inman, SC; granddaughters, Hailey and Natalie; and sisters, Alene Vaughn of Roebuck, SC and Ruth Cooley of the home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Friday, November 6, 2015, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307, by the Rev. Dr. Tim Williams, the Rev. Ondra Black, and the Rev. Gary Hensley. Visitation will follow the service at the Chapel. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mobile Meals Service, PO Box 461, Spartanburg, SC 29304; or Roebuck Baptist Church, PO Box 490, Roebuck, SC 29376. The family is at the home.
