Betty Glover

Betty Jean Israel Glover, 86, of Spartanburg, SC, passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2014, at Hospice Atlanta. Born April 30, 1927, in Spartanburg, SC, she was a daughter of the late Karl Tillman Israel and Ada Teal Israel, and one of nine children. Betty met her husband, Ray Glover, at Spartanburg High School. They were married for 64 years until his death in 2011. She worked for many years along with her husband in the grocery business as owners of Glover's Grocery and Mr. Food. She was a member of Liberty United Methodist Church in Spartanburg. Following her husband's death, she moved to Atlanta to live with her daughter's family and attended Peachtree Road United Methodist Church as her health permitted. Betty had a fondness for azaleas and knew the names of over 50 varieties. Surviving are her daughter, Jan Glover Boehnlein and husband Bruce of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Emily Boehnlein Fulp and Andrew Glover Boehnlein of Atlanta, GA. She was predeceased by sisters, Lanell Goodyear and Margaret McCoy; brothers, Robert, Albert, Harold, Pete, Jack, and Bill Israel. Visitation will be 1:00-1:45 PM Sunday, January 12, 2014, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM, at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Brian Arant. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307.
