Betty Hill Anderson

September 12, 1930 — April 15, 2025

Inman, SC

Betty Hill Anderson, 94, of Spartanburg and Pauline, SC and a longtime resident of RoseCrest Retirement Community, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 15, 2025. Betty lived a long, wonderful life. For more than a year she longed to meet Jesus and now, she is with him on high.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, James Newton Anderson; her mother, Mary Louise Williamson; her father, Haskell Hill; her stepfather, Everett Williamson; and infant son, Larry Anderson.

Betty was a strong Christian woman and member of Philadelphia Baptist Church in Pauline, SC. She was a former longtime member of Drayton Baptist Church. She retired from Wofford College where she worked as a switchboard operator for 26 years. Betty was an excellent cook and baker; she canned produce grown by her husband so her family had delicious food year-round. She also was a fine seamstress, loved birds, chickens, and Jeopardy, and enjoyed collecting coins and reading until macular degeneration stole her sight. Betty will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Left to cherish Betty’s memory are her children: Lynne Hall (Dave) of Louisville, KY; David Anderson (Debbie) of Irmo, SC; and Nancy Gee (Dan) of Wake Forest, NC; seven grandchildren: Kimberly Hall, Michael Anderson (Christina), Krista Gantt (Michael), Matthew Anderson, Allison Anderson, Ryan Gee (Marlee), and Jordan Gee; five great grandchildren: Jeradyn Hall; Audrey, Reese, and Raegan Anderson, and Evan Gantt; and a special niece, Jessie Wolfe.

The family will receive friends between 1:00 – 1:45 PM on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. The funeral service to honor Betty’s life will follow the visitation in the Chapel at 2:00 PM. The burial will follow the service in Sunset Memorial Gardens, 1955 Cannons Campground Road in Spartanburg, where she will be laid to rest alongside her husband, James.

Betty’s memories will live for years to come in the hearts of her family and friends.

The arrangements are entrusted into the care of Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel.
