Betty Hart

Betty Crosby Hart, 86, of 2 Magazine Place, Port Royal Plantation, Hilton Head Island, SC, formerly of Spartanburg, died Thursday, November 19, 2009, at her home. Born April 30, 1923, in Union County, SC, she was the daughter of the late Samuel C. and Minnie Charles Crosby. A graduate of Fairforest High School and Cecil's Business College, she was co-owner of Sheldon Hall Interiors and Hart Furniture Galleries. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hilton Head Island and a former member of Fairforest Baptist Church, Baptist Church of Beaufort, and the First Baptist Church of Spartanburg. She was a former member of the Board of Directors of North Greenville College. Survivors include her husband, Cecil Curtis Hart, Sr.; a son, C. Curtis Hart and his wife Marian of Hilton Head Island; and two grandsons, William Thomas Hart of Gulf Breeze, FL, and Jason Lee Hart of Hilton Head Island. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m. Saturday, November 21, 2009, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 22, 2009, at Fairforest Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Dr. Alastair C. Walker and the Rev. Dr. Donald J. Wilton. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 250 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306; to Fairforest Baptist Church, P. O. Box 338, Fairforest, SC 29336; to First Baptist Church, P. O. Box 5922, Hilton Head Island, SC 29938; or to Hospice Care of the Lowcountry, 119 Palmetto Parkway, Hilton Head Island, SC 29926. The family is at the home of Mrs. Jack Crow, 2425 Fairforest-Clevedale Road, Spartanburg.
