Betty Lou Easler Harrison was born in Spartanburg, South Carolina on July 15, 1932. She passed away on December 13, 2020 surrounded by her loved ones. She was 88 years old. Her parents were Luther and Beulah Easler. She was the second youngest of 10 children. Her sisters, Mallie (92), Iris (90), and Dorothy Sue (86) survive her. Her children are Jana Sue Root, Jill Harrison Khan, and Richard Ray Harrison who all survive her. She has 8 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Betty moved from Spartanburg to Tennessee as a young woman of 21 years. She joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and went on a mission to Kentucky. She then married Dean Harrison and had three children. After living in Texas and Utah, she and Dean settled in Sunnyvale, California to raise their family. She was a fun loving and energetic person who enjoyed children and people in general. In her neighborhood, she was greatly loved. She took care of other's children and cherished them as her own. She also served many in her church congregation. She was a cook for the hungry, a nurse to the sick, and a master gardener who always shared her harvests. She sewed cheerleading outfits and wedding dresses. She made quilts as gifts and donated several to a local orphanage. Besides being a wonderful mother, she was an exceptional grandmother and great-grandmother. Even nieces and nephews have claimed her as a favorite aunt. Without doubt, many people have been the recipient of her service. She was fiercely independent and hard working. She learned to work at 6 years old by helping her father and siblings hoe cotton for 8 hours a day. In her 50s, Betty started working for Signatone (a probe company) as a technician who assembled devices to test probe heads. Even at age 80, she continued to work for them 20 hours a week. Also at age 80, her children hired a lawn care service for her, but she sent the gentlemen away and continued to do her own mowing! Betty was a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She taught her children to love the Savior and to follow in his footsteps. She taught them by example. She had a strong belief that she was her brother's keeper and that by faith AND works, she would return to live with her Heavenly Father and his son Jesus Christ. It is her family's testimony that she is now embraced by Their love in her heavenly home.
