Betty Joyce Donald

Betty Joyce Cromer Donald, 81, a lifelong resident of Spartanburg, passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House in Rock Hill, SC. A New Year’s baby, Betty Joyce was born on January 1, 1943, in Spartanburg, SC, a daughter of the late Crystal Lanford Cromer and Lawrence Rufus Cromer. She was married to the late Jerry Dean Donald. 

Betty Joyce was a member of Morningside Baptist Church and retired from the Spartanburg County Clerk of Court office. She had previously worked with Southern Bell. Betty Joyce loved her University of South Carolina Gamecocks!! 

Surviving are her sons, Brian Dean Donald (Rita) of Greenfield, IN and Stephen Lawrence Donald (Mandi) of Rock Hill, SC; her 4 grandchildren, Austin Donald (Ann), Kelsey-Ryan Donald, Addison Donald, and Eli Donald; her 3 great-grandchildren, Hadley, Katherine and Jebediah; her two sisters, Mary Frances Temples (Kime) and Roseanne Mayer (Jacques); and her brother, Larry Cromer (Patsy). 

The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday, September 22, 2024, at Floyd’s North Church Street Chapel, 235 North Church Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306. A graveside service will be held 12:00 p.m. (noon) Monday, September 23, 2024, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Keith Taylor.
