Betty Deal

Betty Anne Parris Deal, 92, of Spartanburg, SC, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 23, 2021. Born December 12, 1928 in Gaffney, SC, she was the daughter of the late William David Parris and Annie Mae Stroup Parris, and the wife of the late Rev. George William Deal. She was preceded in death by her son, George Bryson Deal. Mrs. Deal was a retired payroll manager with Hersey Measurement Company. She was a former member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, Spartanburg. Survivors include her son, Thomas Scott Deal and his wife Mary Jean of Anderson, SC; daughter-in-law, Marsha Deal of Moore, SC; granddaughters, Shannon Bussell (Chris), Elizabeth Deal (Angie), Mary Anne Jenkins (Trey), Emily Cummins (Ryan), and Hollins Martinez (Luis); step grandchildren, Brit Miller (Robin) and Leslie Horton; and great-grandchildren, Olivia, Ryan, and Will Bussell, Betty Faye Deal, Avery and Sumner Cummins, and Sophia, Elaine and Lillian Martinez; and step great-grandchildren, Brittany and Tiffany Miller and Jake Cooke. She is also survived by two sisters, Peggy Morgan of Georgetown, SC and Miriam Claytor (Jack) of Hopkins, SC; sisters-in-law, Miriam Parris, Bonnie Stephenson; brothers-in-law, Wayne Deal (Barbara), Robert Deal (Diane), and Carol Spangler, She is also preceded in death by four brothers, Billy, Roy, Francis, and David Parris, and one sister, Shirley Spangler. Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, February 27, 2021 in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307 conducted by The Rev. Rufus Chaneyworth. Visitation will follow at the graveside.
