Betty Dalhouse

Betty Gesner Dalhouse, of Spartanburg, died Friday, April 17, 2009, at her home. Born October 26, 1926, in Atlanta, GA, she was the daughter of the late Sidney Reed and Mary Margaret Hodgens Gesner and the wife of the late Samuel Pollock Dalhouse. She was a 1948 graduate of Agnes Scott College in Decatur GA, with a B.A. degree. She was a longtime member of Fernwood Baptist Church where she was a former Sunday School teacher and Deacon. She was also an active member of P.E.O. Sisterhood, Chapter D. Survivors include a son, Samuel David Dalhouse and his wife Jamie of Rock Hill; two daughters, Deborah Leigh Dalhouse of Clemson, and Mary Jane Dalhouse Michels and her husband William of Spartanburg; and four grandchildren, Rebecca Leigh Dalhouse of Clemson, Stephen Lawrence Lundquist, Caroline Arden Lundquist, and Malcolm David Dalhouse, all of Rock Hill. She was predeceased by three brothers, Allen, Malcolm, and Reed Gesner. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m. Saturday, April 18, 2009, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, April 19, 2009, at Fernwood Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Stuart Jones and the Rev. Dr. P. Randall Wright. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Fernwood Baptist Church, 200 Fernwood Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29302. The family wishes to thank Interim Hospice nurses and staff.
