Betty Burris

Betty Gowan Burris, 88, of Spartanburg, SC, died Thursday, June 22, 2017, at her home. Born July 11, 1928, in Inman, SC, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Homer Gowan and Ethel Freeman Gowan and widow of Lane Carson Burris. A graduate of Spartanburg Junior College, Mrs. Burris was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Spartanburg and co-owner of Burris Inc. Survivors include nieces, Betsy Moon (Stan), Rita Bruce (Mike), and Maxine Gowan. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brothers and sister, Barney Gowan, Peggy O'Brien, and Maxie Gowan. Visitation will be 10:00-10:45 AM Monday, June 26, 2017, at the cryptside in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Heritage Chapel Mausoleum, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. A cryptside service will follow at 11:00 AM conducted by the Rev. Preston Edmonds. Thanks is expressed to Amanda Settle and all the caregivers over the years for providing excellent care.
