Betty Burgess

Betty Lawson Burgess, 63, of 249 Bennett Circle, died Wednesday, January 6, 2010, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born June 7, 1946, in Converse, SC, she was the daughter of Bernice J. Lawson Thompson of Spartanburg and the late Monroe Jefferies. She was retired, having worked at Eckerd Drugs, Community Cash, and Piggly Wiggly. She was a member of Ben Avon Baptist Church. Surviving in addition to her mother is her husband, Paul Burgess; a daughter, Nancy Hyatt and her husband Joe of Cowpens; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Fortner of Spartanburg; and two granddaughters, Lacie Hyatt and Samantha Hyatt. Visitation will be 1:00-1:45 p.m. Saturday, January 9, 2010, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel conducted by the Rev. Daniel Godfrey. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 16-A Brozzini Court, Greenville, SC 29615; or to the American Heart Association, 3535 Pelham Road, Suite 101, Greenville, SC 29615.
