Bessie Barnett Skinner, 103, of Spartanburg, died Friday, April 5, 2013 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born in Spartanburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late James Robert and Margaret Alice Turner Barnett and wife of the late Lloyd Skinner. She was previously married to the late Grady Skinner and Rev. W. Y. Henderson. Mrs. Skinner was member of Fernwood Baptist Church. Surviving are children, Gladys Henderson and husband Ted, and Brenda Simpson and husband Gene, daughter-in-law, Mary Skinner; ten grandchildren, Rita Llewelyn (Lewis), Robin McCauley (Alan), Steve Johnson (Penny), Sheila Lattimore (Robert), Lee Anne Shelley (Mark), Chris Henderson (Kriste), Josh Henderson (Tracey), Tim Simpson (Margaret), Alan Simpson (Patty), and Jeff Simpson (Tracy); 22 great-grandchildren; 21 great-great-grandchildren; many loving nieces and nephews; and loving friend and special caregiver, Lee Jackson;. She was predeceased by daughter, Betty Jo Johnson; son, Charles Edward Skinner; grandchildren, David Skinner, Phyllis Skinner, and Mike Henderson; and great-grandson, Nathan Simpson. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 PM Sunday, April 7, 2013, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Monday, April 8, 2013 at Fernwood Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Dean Allen. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memory Gardens, 14050 East Wade Hampton Boulevard, Greer, SC. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Fernwood Baptist Church, 200 Fernwood Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29307 or Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
