Bessie Postal

Bessie Diamantakos Postal, 81, 128 Country Club Court, Spartanburg, died Monday, October 31, 2011, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born March 17, 1930, in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late Peter George and Potitsa Jounakos Diamantakos. Bessie was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, and cousin, to her family and friends that she dearly loved. She was a member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church and a former employee at Ivey's at Hillcrest and Dr. Jack Keith. She was a graduate of Purdue University Class of 1952 and a member of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. Survivors include her loving husband of 55 years, Peter William Postal; sons, Peter William "PW" Postal (Pamela), Lee Damon Postal (Melinda), all of Columbia, and Russell Richard Postal of Spartanburg; grandchildren, Rhett, Rachel, Damon, and Jordan Postal; and her brother, George Damon (Judy) of Columbia. Visitation will be 6:30-8:00 PM, with the Trisagion Prayer Service beginning at 7:30 PM, Thursday, November 3, 2011, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, November 4, 2011, at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, conducted by the Rev. George F. Nayfa. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
