Bess Pow

Maude Bess Pow, better know as "Beth" to her family and friends, 76, died Sunday morning, October 10, 2010 at a nursing home in Hendersonville, NC. Beth grew up in Cramerton, NC and was a life long teacher in schools in both NC and SC, first as an elementary school teacher and then as a reading supervisor. Her last assignment was in Jonesville, SC. She loved literature, poetry, school children, and her dog, Sug. She is survived by a brother, Robert Pow (Betty) of Fayetteville, NC; two nieces, Merribeth Bizzell of Raleigh, NC, and Amy Elizabebth Pow of Fayetteville, NC; a nephew, Timothy Andrew Pow; and a brother-in-law, Rev. Henry Bizzell of Newton Grove, NC. She was predeceased by her parents, Henry O. and Ava Richardson Pow; a sister, Grace Bizzell; and a nephew, Henry Richardson Pow. The family will receive friends from 11:00 - 11:45 AM on Friday, October 15, 2010 at Fernwood Baptist Church. Services will follow at 12:00 Noon, in the church sanctuary, conducted by the Rev. Randall Wright. Interment will be in Gaston Memorial Park in Gastonia, NC, beside her parents.
