Bertha Lorene Suttles Parris, 86, of Valley Falls Terrace and formerly of 133 Foster Street, Cowpens, died Saturday, May 22, 2010, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born August 6, 1923, in Cherokee County, she was a daughter of the late William Andrew (Andy) Suttles and Lillie Margaret (Maggie) Thomason Suttles and widow of James Arthur Parris. She was formerly employed at Pacolet Mills and was a member of Cowpens Church of God. Survivors include a brother, Fayte Suttles; two sisters, Leona Henderson and Elsie Wright; two nieces who were her caregivers, Margaret Champion and Edith Long; and many other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, Carl, Leroy, and Grady Suttles; and three sisters, Geneva Henderson, Ella Mae Bennett, and Rosell Pressley. Visitation will be 1:00-1:45 p.m. Tuesday, May 25, 2010, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Edwin L. Huggins. Burial will be in Asbury United Methodist Church Cemetery, Pacolet, SC. The family is at the home of her niece, Margaret Champion, in Cowpens.
