Bertha G. Flynn, 69, of Boiling Springs, died Saturday, June 4, 2011 at Mary Black Memorial Hospital. Born June 29, 1941 in Spartanburg, she was the daughter of the late Ralph Edward "Andy" Gibbs, Sr. and Louise Blanton Gibbs. Bertha was the Accounts Manager at The J. F. Floyd Mortuary. She was a member of Gravely Memorial United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class and former Chairman of the Finance Committee. She was a member of the Spartanburg Chapter of International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP) where she served as Chapter President and State President. Bertha was also a member of Spartanburg Chapter of Credit Professionals International and served as President from 1999-2002 and was honored as the Credit Professional of the Year for Spartanburg County. Survivors include her beloved husband of fifty-two and one-half years, Alva James "A. J." Flynn, Jr.; a son, James "Jimmy" Michael Flynn and wife Candy of Woodruff; three grandchildren, Tara Lee Flynn Crowe and husband Brandon of Woodruff, Jake McCall and wife Casey of Roebuck, and Corey McCall and wife Lauren of Easley, SC; a son-in-law and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Kathy Wilkins of Poplar Springs; a special aunt who raised her, Doris Blanton; her father and mother-in law, Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Gibson of Pawley's Island; and sister-in-law, Martha Holcombe of Pawley's Island. Bertha was predeceased by a daughter, Doris Elizabeth "Beth" Flynn; a son, Chris Edward Flynn; and a brother, Ralph Edward "Eddie" Gibbs. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Monday, June 6, 2011 at Floyd's Boiling Springs Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at Floyd's Boiling Springs Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Scott S. Gilmer. Burial will follow at Boiling Springs Memorial Gardens. Honorary escort include the employees of The J. F. Floyd Mortuary, members of the Spartanburg Chapter of IAAP, and Spartanburg Chapter Credit Professional International.
