Bernice Lawson Thompson, 84, of Spartanburg, died Monday, June 21, 2010 at White Oak Manor. Born November 30, 1925 in Spartanburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late Benton T. and Mossie Hounshell Lawson and the wife of the late Andrew A. Thompson. She retired from Hoechst Fibers and was a member of Cannons Camp Ground United Methodist Church. Survivors include a granddaughter, Nancy Hyatt and husband Joe of Cowpens; two great-granddaughters, Lacie and Samantha Hyatt both of Cowpens; a son-in-law, Paul Burgess of Spartanburg; a brother, Burl Lawson of Honea Path; and a sister, Sue Hammett of Spartanburg. She was predeceased by a daughter, Betty Lawson Burgess; and three sisters, Virginia Lawson Crocker, Ruby Lawson Mathis, and Juanita Lawson Blanchette. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Douglas Gilliland. Visitation will follow the service at the graveside.
