Bernice Holcombe

Bernice Evelyn Edwards Holcombe, 90, widow of Charles B. Holcombe, died October 24, 2009, at Riverside Living Center, Piedmont, SC. A native of Greer, SC, daughter of the late Clarence and Rosa Nichols Edwards, she retired with over 45 years of service from the J. C. Penney Company and was a member of St. James United Methodist Church. Surviving is one son, Perry D. Holcombe and his wife Katherine of Easley, SC; a daughter-in-law, Candace J. Holcombe of Hartsville, SC; four grandsons, Charles Holcombe of Hartsville, SC, Thomas Holcombe and wife Michelle of Seneca, SC, Willis Holcombe and wife Amber of Easley, SC and Kennon Holcombe of Greenville, SC; and three great-grandchildren, Warren, Peyton, and Cullen Holcombe. She was predeceased by a son, Charles Allan Holcombe; one sister, Geneva Bruton; and two brothers, Floyd Edwards and Hubert Edwards. Cryptside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday October 27, 2009, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Heritage Chapel Mausoleum conducted by the Rev. Dr. Gareth D. Scott, with visitation following the entombment. Grandsons will serve as Pallbearers.
