Bernard “Bernie” Taylor England, died Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born August 11, 1932, he was a son of the late Joe S. and Lorene Hooper England.
Mr. England had a long career with Milliken and Company and Spartan Mills as an accountant. After retirement, he was a longtime ambassador for The J. F. Floyd Mortuary. He was an active member of Bethel United Methodist Church-Spartanburg where he was a Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop #7; a volunteer firefighter and participated in a prison ministry. Mr. England was a graduate of the University of South Carolina and a veteran of the U. S. Army.
Survivors are a son, Joe Huiet England (Maggie) of Gastonia, NC; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; sisters, Vinitia E. Fairchild and Connie E. Miller. He was predeceased by his wife, Helen Huiet England; a son, Dan Alan England; a brother, Ronald R. England.
Visitation will be Saturday, January 7, 2023, 10:00AM-10:45AM, at Bethel United Methodist Church Parlor, 245 South Church Street, Spartanburg, SC, 29306. Funeral Services will follow at 11:00 AM in the church sanctuary. Interment will be 3:00PM at Harmony United Methodist Church Cemetery, 98 Bouknight Road, Johnston, SC, 29832.
