Bernard Huey Hinson, 82, of Spartanburg, died Wednesday, September 19, 2012, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born September 10, 1930, in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late Isaac Andrew and Alma Hunter Hinson. A U. S. Army veteran, Mr. Hinson received the National Defense Service Award and Occupation Medal (Germany). He was retired from Startex Mills after 40 years of service, was a member of United Baptist Church, formerly Hayne Baptist, an avid woodworker, and served on the Metro Fire Department for 45 years. Surviving are his sons, Ray Hinson and wife Rhonda of Spartanburg, SC; Jerry Hinson and wife Shirl of Boiling Springs, SC; grandsons, Shane Hinson and Kevin Hinson; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Bob Hinson of Spartanburg, SC, and Kenneth Hinson of Lexington, SC; sister, Shirley Gossett of Spartanburg, SC; sister-in-law, Mary Hinson of Spartanburg, SC; a number of nieces and nephews; and special friend, Patricia Harris of Cowpens, SC. He was predeceased by sisters, Elizabeth Lawson, Margie Taylor, and Earlene Couch; and a brother, William Hinson. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Friday, September 21, 2012, at Floyd's Boiling Springs Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Saturday, September 22, 2012, at Floyd's Boiling Springs Chapel, by the Rev. Robert Emory and the Rev. Jack D. Weaver.
