Bennie Wilson

Bennie Holt Harris Wilson, 88, of Fairforest, died Tuesday, February 18, 2014, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born January 14, 1926, in Spartanburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late Walter Jackson and Agnes Madeline McCauley Holt. Mrs. Wilson was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. She spent years at home raising her five girls and later worked at Holiday Inn, Butte Knit, and Holmberg Electronics. She was a beautiful, strong woman with a big smile for everyone. She loved to bake and always had fresh cut flowers on the table. Surviving are her daughters, Teresa Brannon (Gary), Donna Sturgis, Marla Gobbel (Jim), Judy Register (Joel), and Robyn Cudd (Mike); nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Patricia Pearson of Charleston, SC, and Louise McCarley of Roebuck, SC; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husbands, Hobson Elvis Harris and Claude Allen Wilson; and a brother, Walter Gordon "Bud" Holt. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 22, 2014, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 161 N. Dean St., Spartanburg, SC 29302, by the Rev. Timothy M. Gahan. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Memorials may be made to Mobile Meals Service, PO Box 461, Spartanburg, SC 29304. The family will be at the home of Teresa and Gary Brannon following the burial.
