Bennie Hood

Bennie F. Hood, Sr., 86, of Spartanburg, SC died Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at the home of his daughter. Born September 6, 1935 in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late D.W. Hood Sr. and Pauline Berry Hood and was the husband of the late Mary Sue Thompson Hood.

Bennie was a 1955 graduate of Pacolet High School and was retired from Triangle Ice after many years of service. He proudly served as a volunteer with the Pacolet Fire Department. Bennie was a member of Golightly United Methodist Church. He loved country music.

Survivors include his children, Frank Hood (Marcia) of Spartanburg, SC, his daughter, Donna Anderson (Bo) of Spartanburg, SC, Raymond Hood of Gaffney, SC, five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild, and a brother, D.W. Hood, Jr. (Betty). He was predeceased by a brother, William Hood, a grandson, Justin Anderson.

Visitation will be 11:00 AM – 12:00 Noon Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Floyd’s Pacolet Chapel, 141 Memorial Drive, Pacolet, SC 29372. A graveside service will be at 12:00 PM in Pacolet Memorial Gardens, 141 Memorial Drive, Pacolet, SC 29372, conducted by The Rev. Gregory Thompson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Golightly United Methodist Church, 2000 Hwy. 56, Spartanburg, SC 29302 or to Pacolet Town Fire department, 160 Hillbrook Circle, Pacolet, SC 29372.
