Bennie Turner Case, 78, of Spartanburg, died peacefully on Wednesday, November 18, 2009, at White Oak Estates. Born November 22, 1930, in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late George Edward and Ruth Turner Case and the husband of Mary Joanna Jones Case. Mr. Case was the president of the 1948 Class of Spartanburg High School and a 1952 graduate of Wofford College, a member of the Wofford Glee Club, and one of the Moyer Men. He was the Chairman of the Board of Case Brothers of Spartanburg, a music business founded by his grandfather. He was a member of the Music Foundation Board and President of the Spartanburg Sertoma Club. Mr. Case was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Spartanburg where he was a longtime usher and a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was a dedicated family man and golfer and enjoyed spending time with his extended family at Lake Lure, NC. Married on November 22, 1950, Bennie and his wife are the parents of three children, Stanley Turner Case (married to Martha McCoy), Thomas Edward Case (married to Ginger Crain), and the late Virginia Ruth Case Williams, who was married to Allen Williams. He is also survived by his brother, George Edward Case, Jr., and seven grandchildren, Stephen Nathaniel, Sarah Brooks, Benjamin Heath, Kristin Marie and Scott Thomas Case and Christopher Thomas and Cari Joann Williams. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 21, 2009, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens conducted by the Rev. Dr. William Arthur. A Celebration of Life reception will follow at 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. in the Parlor of the First Presbyterian Church. Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
