Bennie Adair

Bennie L. Adair, 77, of 122 Washington Road, died Monday, October 4, 2010 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born February 25, 1933 in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late Manciel Collins Adair, Sr. and Ruby Fowler Adair. A 1950 graduate of Cowpens High School, he first retired from the U. S. Army where he received numerous service medals, and later from Flagstar, Inc. An avid golfer, he was a member of the Creek Golf Club and the Oak Ridge Golf Club. He loved his nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Brenda Holt Adair; a brother, Manciel Adair of Birmingham, AL; a nephew, Rick Adair and wife Louisa of Spartanburg; three nieces, Rhonda Campbell and husband Mike of Boiling Springs, Rhonda Combs and husband Jeff of Greenville, and Marie Vickery and husband Ronnie of Roebuck; four great nephews, Dustin and Travis Adair, Jeffrey Campbell, and Brent Burnett; four great nieces, Leigh Anne King, Julia Vickery, Katherene Burnett, and Courtney Christman; and his beloved pet, Cuddles. He was predeceased by a son, Bennie Kevin Adair. Visitation will be 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 7, 2010 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Dr. M. B. Morrow, Jr. and the Rev. Jim Johnston. Burial with military rites will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to First Tee of Spartanburg, 640 Keltner Avenue, Spartanburg, SC 29302. The family is at the home.
