Ben Baker

Benjamin Ervin Baker, 91, of Pacolet, SC, joined his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 25, 2017, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born April 25, 1926, in Pacolet Mills, SC, he was the son of the late Richard and Pearl Brown Baker and husband of the late Marie Motts Baker. A U. S. Navy veteran of World War II in the European theatre - Normandy invasion with amphibious forces, Mr. Baker was retired from Crown Central Petroleum and Spartanburg County Waste Management. He was a member of Pacolet First Baptist Church where he served as a former Chairman of Deacons, Sunday School teacher, and former Minister of M usic. He was also a member of the Pacolet Lions Club, Lake Murray Seniors Bass Club, and past Master of Trough Shoals Masonic Lodge. Survivors include his daughters, Judy Entwistle (Paul) of Gaffney, SC and Janice B. Logan (Bill) of Pacolet, SC; five grandchildren, Jeff Horton, Wendy Horton, Rachel Logan, Kadi Logan and Ashley Benjamin; four great-grandchildren, Dwayne, Allison, Jada and Dylan; and sister, Catherine Rolan of Inman, SC. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by siblings, Foye Baker, Gene Baker and Evelyn Baker. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday, April 27, 2017, at Floyd's Pacolet Chapel, 141 Memorial Dr., Pacolet, SC 29372. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, April 28, 2017, at Pacolet First Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Tommy Sparks. Burial will be in Pacolet First Baptist Church Cemetery.
