Becky Sykes

Rebecca Crow Sykes, 69, wife of Michael Lynn Sykes, died August 12, 2021 at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.  Becky was born on June 9, 1952 in Spartanburg, a daughter of the late Jack Patillo and Reba West Crow.

Becky was a teacher at Wellford Elementary School for 28 years and also served as a teacher’s assistant at Fairforest Elementary School for many years.  Becky enjoyed swimming, water skiing, vacationing at the beach, flower gardening, bird watching, reading, traveling and spending time with family and friends.  She was a longtime member of Fairforest Garden Club and a member of First Baptist Church-Spartanburg and The Solesbee Sunday School Class.  Educated in Spartanburg District 6 schools, Becky received her Bachelor’s Degree from Winthrop College and her Master’s Degree from University of South Carolina-Spartanburg.

Also surviving are a son, Brian Christopher Sykes (fiancé Rebecca Holden) of Fletcher, NC; a sister, Marian Crow Hart (Curtis) of Hilton Head, SC; a nephew, Jason Hart.  Becky was predeceased by her nephew, Will Hart.

Visitation will be Sunday, August 15, 2021 from 2:30 to 3:15PM at the Fairforest Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.   Services will follow at 3:30 PM at Fairforest Baptist Church sanctuary, 115 Church St., Fairforest, SC  29301, conducted by Rev. Sal Barone and Rev. Donnie Solesbee.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.
