Beatrice Merritt

Beatrice E. "Bea" Taylor Merritt (nee Failla) died peacefully on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at the age of 94. Bea, one of six children, was born March 24, 1923 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to Sam and Emily (Papili) Failla. She married Richard A. Taylor, Sr. in 1948 and he passed away in 1977. She married John A. Merritt, III in 1985 and he passed away in 2012. She is also predeceased by a son, Richard A. Taylor, Jr. (1997). Despite these losses of her loves she remained positive, exuding kindness and strength. Her strong Catholic faith is credited for this. Bea is survived by a daughter, Lori Taylor Boyd (Wallace); grandsons, Warren and Joel; and a daughter-in-law, Eun Soo Taylor; as well as granddaughters, Veronica and Jessica. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:00 AM Tuesday, January 23, 2018, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 290 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29302. A reception will follow in the Parish Life Center of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. No flowers please, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303; or a charity of one's choice.
