Beatrice Burns Harris, 98, of Wesley Court Assisted Living, Boiling Springs, SC, formally of Chesnee, passed away Saturday, October 15, 2011. She was born in Gainsville, GA, the daughter of the late John H. and Pearl Margarite Hayes Wood and widow of the late Darcy Duncan Harris. She was first married to the late Russell Graham Burns. Mrs. Harris, better known as "Mama Bea" by all who knew her, was a member of Chesnee First Baptist Church and the Senior Center of Chesnee. She is survived by a son, Ronald "Ronnie" Burns and wife, Sylvia, four grandchildren, Rodney Burns and wife Tammy of Chesnee, Brent Burns and wife Royall of Hendersonville, NC, Mike Burns and wife Carey of Chesnee, and Angie Lancaster Band and husband Rev. Norman Band of Pacolet; a son-in-law, Baron Lancaster of Spartanburg; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a sister, Deloras Sutherland and husband Jim of Boiling Springs; and two brothers, John Wood of Boiling Springs and Jerry Wood and wife Winnie of Taylors. She was predeceased by a wonderful daughter, Syble Burns Lancaster; a sister, Pearl W. Willard; and three brothers, Roy, Rex, and J. T. Wood. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at Chesnee First Baptist Church officiated by the Rev. Dr. Gary J. Grogan, the Rev. Norman Band, and the Rev. Dr. Troy Gregg. The family will receive friends from 1:45-2:45 PM prior to the service in the church sanctuary. The interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Spartanburg.
