Barry Shropshier

Barry H. Shropshier, 57, of Spartanburg, died Tuesday, September 22, 2009, at the McCall Hospice House in Simpsonville. Born January 28, 1952, in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of Mildred Cash Boan of Spartanburg and the late Dillard Harland Shropshier. He was the husband of Phyllis Ellison Shropshier and was first married to the late Jerri Pruitt Shropshier. He was a graduate of Cowpens High School, a retired contractor, and a member of Clifton First Baptist Church. Surviving in addition to his mother and wife is a son, Harrison Shropshier, and a daughter, Megan Shropshier, both of the home; a brother, William Shropshier of Boiling Springs; a sister, Paulette Shropshier of Converse; and three step-brothers, Wayne Boan of Bethune, SC, Tommy Boan and Sherill Boan, both of Lugoff, SC. He was predeceased by his aunt and uncle, Emily and Steve Sandor; and a step-brother, Frankie Boan. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, September 25, 2009, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel conducted by the Rev. Thomas Smith, the Rev. Ken Owens, and the Rev. C. Allen Senn. The family will receive friends following the service at the Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Beginnings United Methodist Church, 210 Rainbow Lake Road, Boiling Springs, SC 29316; to Clifton First Baptist Church, P. O. Box 135, Clifton, SC 29324; or to the Alzheimer's Association, 901 South Pine Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302. The family is at the home.
