Barbara Petty

Barbara Carol "Tootsie" Tolleson Petty, 78, of Roebuck, died Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born August 6, 1931 in Spartanburg County, SC, she was the daughter of the late James J. and Clara Divinnie Evans Tolleson. She retired from Harley Bag Company (later Union Camp Bag Company), and was a member of Roebuck Baptist Church and the Dorcas Sunday School Class. Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Lewis V. "Buck" Petty; two daughters, Brenda Petty Garner and husband Ronnie of Roebuck, and Cathy Petty Rollins and husband Randy of Moore; three grandchildren, Justin Garner and Mitzi Rollins, both of Moore and Jessica Rollins Alverson and husband Michael of Roebuck; three great-grandchildren, McKalie Alverson, Hayden Rollins, and Nathan Rollins; three sisters, Annette Tolleson Sanders and husband Joe and Joan Tolleson McAbee and husband Jimmy, all of Roebuck, and Diana Tolleson Gwinn of Spartanburg; a brother, Billy J. Tolleson and wife Shirley of Bosier City, LA; sisters-in-law, Jessie Tolleson and Ruth McElrath, both of Spartanburg and Barbara Swofford of Cowpens; many nieces and nephews who loved her very much; and her dog, Buddy. Mrs. Petty was an avid fan of working Word Search puzzles and a very loving and caring person who always put others first. She was predeceased by two brothers, Gene Tolleson and Tillman Tolleson. Visitation will be from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday, June 3, 2010 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Friday, June 4, 2010 at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Tim Williams and the Rev. Ondra Black. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
