Barbara Lyles

Barbara Spencer Lyles, 95, of Spartanburg, SC, died Wednesday, August 12, 2015, at her daughter's home. Born October 28, 1919, in Dursley, England, she was the daughter of the late Charles Haddon and Annie Rose Hewish Spencer. Mrs. Lyles retired on her 86th birthday from Hayes Animal Hospital where she was a receptionist. She was a kindergarten teacher for many years at Westminster Presbyterian Church, a member of The Assembly, the Junior League, Spartanburg Garden Club and was a member of First Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir for a long period of time. Survivors include her children, Elizabeth Lyles Raymond of Moore, SC, Barbara Spencer Lyles of Columbus, NC, and William Boykin Lyles of Greenville, SC; grandchildren, Jessica Elizabeth Raymond of Charleston, SC, Caroline Jean Raymond of Amherst, MA, Carmen Renee Alleyne of Atlanta, GA, and Fleming Lyles of Greenville, SC; and one great-granddaughter. She was predeceased by a brother, Bernard Spencer. Services will be private. No flowers please.
