Barbara Jean Allen Hazel, 77, went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, July 28, at Woodland Place. Jean was born in Spartanburg, SC on November 14, 1943, a daughter of the late Pansy Lee Allen. She was the widow of H. Merrell Hazel.
During her retirement years, her greatest joy came from spending time with her daughter and ministering to the children of the Good News Club at Inman Elementary. She loved the Lord Jesus with all her heart and got no greater joy than to see a child accept the Lord and surrender their life to Christ. She was a devoted member of Holston Creek Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Jeanna Lee Hazel of Spartanburg, and her brother, James William Allen and his wife Tina of Newberry.
The family will receive friends 12:30-1:45 p.m. Sunday, August 1, 2021, at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. in the Chapel, with Rev. Dr. Reggie Parker and Rev. Earl D. Simmons, Sr. officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Child Evangelism Fellowship, PO Box 170538, Spartanburg, SC 29301.
Her daughter would like to extend her heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staff at Woodland Place and Wren Hospice for their love, dedication, help and friendship to Mrs. Barbara Jean during her time there. You have become like family and are deeply cherished.
